Micah Evans works out of his home in Miami Florida, a long way away from his home in Washington State.
He learned how to flamework in Seattle, where he took a couple of lessons on the fundamentals of flameworking and soon quit his day job to work with glass full time.
Glass is everywhere in Seattle, as are glassblowers.
It is a great place to learn, but a hard place to make a living.
Micah soon relocated to Jacksonville Florida where with little training in glass, he became a fixture at local hot glass studios, learning the traditional techniques of furnace worked soft glass and incorporating those techniques in his flamework.
In late 2005, Micah moved to Miami Florida where he is currently doing his own work and commissioned works in conjunction with other artists in the area.
